Costcutter has signed a deal with DigiPoS Systems for the award
winning Retail Blade to be used as an integral part of the Costcutter
PoS solution. The hardware will support Costcutter’s in-house software
solution ‘C-PoS’.
Costcutter
engaged the leading retail solutions provider 18 months ago to trial
Retail Blade across 100 of its sites. At the start of the trial an
initial 300 sites were earmarked by the retailer as a first wave for
installation with a projected implementation schedule across 100 sites
per year. It is estimated that 500-600 Retail Blades will be in place
by the end of 2006.
Initially
the integrated PoS system will provide a point of consistency across
the different sites – franchises, licensed formats and Costcutter
managed. Additionally, the Costcutter PoS system is fully integrated
with the organisations head office system meaning that promotions can
be controlled from a single point saving time for the individual
retailers.
Kevin
Widdrington, Director of IT at Costcutter states: “With the majority of
our sites being franchises it was imperative that we could offer a
complete PoS package that would offer our franchisees long term
stability.”
With
upgrading PoS being Widdrington’s first major area of focus when taking
on the role of Director of IT 12 months ago he chose the innovative
Retail Blade as: “More than any of its competitors Retail Blade not
only offered a smoother system for the retailer but also allows for
increased maintenance efficiency and greatly reduced down time which
benefits everyone.”
The
deal marks a significant move for DigiPoS and the Retail Blade product
as the company’s first foray into grocery. Existing customers and
advocates of the Retail Blade include Harrods, Harvey Nichols, Next and
the Mosaic Fashion group - all falling into the apparel or department
store category.
Speaking about the deal Ian
Patterson, MD of DigiPoS said: “We have always had full confidence that
the Retail Blade would provide organisations across the different
retail verticals with real time cost and maintenance benefits. We hope
that the confirmation of this deal with Costcutter will be the
beginnings of the Retail Blade success story within the grocery sector.” |
